About Me

You can't tell my story without my wife, Allison.

My life story, and especially my faith story.

When I met Allison, I was a selfish, egotistical, self-righteous, hard-drinking, rude, lewd, chain-smoking, God-hating idolater.

Allison changed my life because she got me to start going to church again.

When I got to church, I heard about this guy
named Jesus.

Jesus did the heavy lifting in changing my life.

I had come to believe, in all my years as an angry
atheist, that I could not be forgiven by God.

I thought that I was a sinner and had to spend the rest of my life hopeless for a chance at reconciliation with God.

I thought wrong.

I heard the gospel.

I heard that while I was still a sinner, Jesus died for me. God loves me so much that he sent Jesus to the cross to pay the penalty for my sin. Jesus loves me so much that he went willingly to the cross so that I could be reconciled to God.

By punishing my sins in Jesus, God has made the way for me to have forgiveness, reconciliation, and newness of life. By raising Jesus from the dead, all of this becomes possible.

I can be forgiven, forever. I can have a relationship with God as my Heavenly Father. So can you.

I hope that what people see most from me is that I have new life in Jesus Christ.

See, when Jesus was raised from the dead, that made it possible for anyone - no matter what - anyone to have new life.

By faith in Jesus and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, anyone can become united with Jesus to walk with him in newness of life.

Jesus became the first fruits for a new humanity. He was raised from the dead so that spiritually dead people like myself can be raised to newness of life.

Jesus offers hope to all people in all walks of life --
hope for forgiveness, hope for reconciliation, and hope for new life.

All of this is available through faith in Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul summed up what life looks like when we live by faith in Jesus Christ in his letter to the Galatians:

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 ESV)

Through faith, we die with Jesus. As we live by faith, we die to the old us, to our old ways of living. Paul tells us that when we die with Christ, we are raised with him. Jesus lives in us and empowers us through his Spirit to live out our lives of faith. By faith, we no longer live for ourselves but for others, because Jesus lives in us. The reason why we can live by faith in Jesus is because he first loved us and gave himself for us.

In giving himself for us, Jesus was faithful to God where we fail.
In giving himself for us, Jesus made the sacrifice for sin that pays the debt of our sin.
In giving himself for us, Jesus depended fully on God's power when we so often live in our own strength.
In giving himself for us, Jesus gave up his life entirely for others, so that they might know him.

In a different letter, Paul explains how we can walk in newness of life:

And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with [Jesus], having forgiven us all our trespasses (Colossians 2:13 ESV)

By faith we become spiritually alive, because God makes us alive with Jesus who has been raised. We also receive the Holy Spirit, the very Spirit of Christ - God's own power - to live and dwell within us, to help make us more like Jesus, to enable us to live for God and others, and to bring us fully home to our salvation. Our lives become new and changed because of our faith.

You might be thinking, "I thought this was an about me page..."

I assure you, it is! In the same way that my life story would be incomplete without my wife - my life story would be wholly incomplete without Jesus Christ and the good news of the gospel.

When Allison started bringing me to church, I didn't just hear the gospel. By God's grace, I also believed the good news! I received the gift of God's grace and I died with Jesus and was raised to new life with him, to live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.

That leads us to where Allison and I are now. As we grew in our relationship, walking by faith we realized that God wanted us to be married. We were joyously wed on July 30th, 2016 and have been enjoying living by faith in our marriage.

The next step in our journey of living by faith starts in August of 2017 when I will begin an unpaid, church-based training, ministry internship called LDI!

LDI stand for Leadership Development Institute, and you can learn more about it at my link here: LDI

It sounds crazy. "Paul, you're 30, newly married, and you want to take an unpaid internship?!"

Haha!! I know it sounds crazy, but it's what Allison and I feel that God is calling us to. We believe God is calling us to this path for our lives right now, and we are stepping out in faith in Him.

In 2017, Allison will continue working and I will be raising support. We believe God will be faithful in providing us people to pray for us and support us financially in this next step in our faith journey. If you're reading this far, that could be you. You could joyfully come alongside us and support my journey into full-time ministry.

Why should I give?

I'd love to talk to you about that in person!
Look for more information to be coming your way in the summer of 2017!

Allison and I can't thank you enough for all the support you give us in our lives!

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV)

To God be the glory!
